A Patriotic Colour Scheme and Historic Emblem

The updated livery incorporates a patriotic design to reflect the national flag and will be used on GBR trains, at terminals, and across its digital platforms.

Notably, the logo is the distinctive double-arrow design currently used by the national rail network and previously created in the 1960s for British Rail.

A Introduction Plan

The phased introduction of the branding, which was created by the department, is expected to happen in phases.

Travellers are set to begin seeing the freshly-liveried trains across the national network from spring next year.

Throughout December, the design will be displayed at key railway stations, like Leeds City.

The Journey to Nationalisation

The proposed law, which will enable the establishment of GBR, is presently progressing through the legislative process.

The administration has stated it is bringing back into public ownership the railways so the system is "run by the people, working for the passengers, not for profit."

GBR will bring the operation of passenger trains and infrastructure under a single organisation.

The government has claimed it will unify seventeen various entities and "cut through the notorious bureaucracy and poor accountability that has long affected the railways."

Digital Features and Existing Ownership

The rollout of Great British Railways will also include a dedicated mobile application, which will allow passengers to view timetables and purchase tickets free from booking fees.

Passengers with disabilities travellers will also be have the option to use the application to request support.

A number of train companies had earlier been nationalised under the outgoing administration, such as Northern.

There are currently 7 train operators now in public control, covering about a third of journeys.

In the past year, South Western Railway have been nationalised, with additional operators anticipated to be added in 2026.

Official and Sector Response

"This isn't just a paint job," commented the Transport Secretary. It signifies "a fresh start, leaving behind the frustrations of the previous system and concentrated completely on delivering a genuine service for the public."

Industry representatives have welcomed the pledge to bettering the passenger experience.

"We will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to support a seamless transition to the new system," a representative noted.
