'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Relatives of Missing Young People Await News After Ski Resort Blaze
The relatives of young people unaccounted for after a deadly inferno at a bar in a Switzerland's winter destination are facing an agonising wait for answers and appealing for any details about their family members via social media.
The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of the first day of the year. Circulated footage depict the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.
Emergency services have warned that it could take considerable time to formally name the fatalities of the tragedy, which resulted in the death of 40 people and wounded another over a hundred. Authorities noted on Friday that 113 of the injured have been identified, with efforts continuing to locate the final individuals.
In the meantime, families and friends have been posting on the internet to request clues about their loved ones who were in attendance that fateful night.
Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing
The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his mother.
The who lives of a town near the city, told a publication that she had returned to the city to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in the capital, but did not locate him.
"I'm living a nightmare, a nightmare. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she stated.
She added that some of his friends had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they experienced hell."
The Italy's government has said that six of its nationals remain missing.
One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old junior golfer, who hailed from Genoa but now residing in the UAE.
The national sporting body has stated that he is deceased, without directly referencing the fire, honoring a "talented young man who carried with him dedication and authentic values."
His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An representative has stated that a official announcement of his death is awaited.

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also among the missing. His parent explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and ended up at the bar.
"A close friend said they ran away after the fire started and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to reports.
Her sibling has published an appeal on social media, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.
Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the case.
