Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
